I'm considering doing my masters in Computer science there.
Just want to find out a little about the place & what the area is like as well as the actual university.
Any info would be very appreciated.
Thanks
A,

I wasn't too fond of the university or the town, but I think they have a good computer dept, and cybernetics.
I stayed in Childs hall the first year - it was one of the best if you're up for madness - drinking, music and all sorts, plus its only a 5min walk from the uni.
The town itself is overpriced and lacks character - when I was leaving, they were just opening the biggest in-city shopping centre in the UK which meant that all the shops were moving out of the centre - and guess what moved in? Pubs! And I mean loads of them.
JD Weatherspoons had four along the main street, probably more now. No real clubs worth mentioning, Level One, Washington Heights, Utopia, and the After Dark clubs were the main ones, nothing special, but plenty of cheap student deals.
But, shortly after I left, MoS opened a new club on the Oxford Road, one of the main roads out of town and its supposed to be quite good.
But the main thing to mention is that it is half an hour from London on the train - I spent most of my weekends there, doing the club scene and it was brilliant 'cos you could go in and not have to put up with the shit that London gives you. Plus, you can go anywhere direct from Reading train station as it quite a big station.

Yes I often also go to Reading (twice a year? hehe)
to a club (which i think is the one ur talking about DT that opened lately) called the Matrix. They got amazing DJ lineups there and if it wasn't for that club, nothing is really interesting in Reading.. (ooh.. prolly easier to find drugs over there.. me heard)
The University itself is not among the "Elite" of British Universities but who cares.. they're all the same.. hehe education every where u go.

Many thanks - appreciate it.
P_V_T by elite of British Univ. I assume you mean Oxford, Cambridge.
Cambridge doesn't have that good a Computer Science dept. (from what I've seen), whilst Oxford seems decent, but doesn't deal with any of the topics that I am really interested in.
