I seen the Chemical Brothers live in November last year, live at the Point theatre in Dublin - and they wer fucking amazing. Sasha supported, got everyone going, then the Chem Bros kicked in with "Hey Boy, Hey Girl!" and the place went fucking bananas!
But just to see them on the stage giving it socks on the stage was fantastic, as was their light and images displays. Whether they were playing live or not, I dunno. Their tunes would be impossible to do live - so I'd guess they had most of the hard work done already.
But I did hear they did the same show in England, and they just put on the tune and sat back and let it play - massive disappointment.
If a DJ is playing live, there is a hell of a lot that can go wrong, mush of which is out of their control, and 5mins downtime in a DJ set is a hell of a long time.
If the set isn't entirely live, then as long as they out effort into their stage appearance - who cares?!!!!
Just my opinion.
A brilliant Dj to see live is our own John Checini - he goes mental to his own music so you connect better, plus he normally dives out of his DJ box and body surfs around the crowd - fucking brilliant!
