it is snowing today. i decided not to go to work because people don't know how to drive in snow here. i hate winter (and it isn't even officially winter yet).
i figured those fires must be pretty bad because you know how our country cuts itself off from news in other parts of the world....

The fires look like bad news indeed. However they also do some good. I read that the main set for home and away located on a paddock some where was burnt to the ground.
How are the sydney Ta's doing?

The situation today is much better than previous days, its much cooler now. Hopefully conditions will get better...
Wednesday was quite hectic though, one of the power-electricity stations got burnt down, and there were power surges galore all over the place. The city-circle trains were dead due to the power failure, and we had to wait over 2 hours before they got the power up again.
Quite a few houses were completely destroyed too, it is indeed, very painful to loose ABSOLUTELY everything from a fire...

well i live next to a forest in the north of sydney and mum was freakin out, she's like we better start organising what todo if a fire comes to us
so i went and put a backup of my mp3 collection, all my cd's, and my cd playa into one nice spot so i can get em away if the place burns down, i then prayed to my god, PvD, that he should spare us from this.......
seriously tho, i hope everyone affected by the fires gets thru this shit, and that those stupid fires go away!!!!!

hmm...seems to be mostly in the north/northwest atm, i think mt colah/dural region
hopefully the can get most of them under control this weekend, but the news said next week doesn't look good for them
right on the edge of kuring-gai national park here...hopefully it won't be as bad a season as '94 was...quite lucky then 'cos the opposite side of our valley was black, but our side was spared
Yeah the fires are pretty bad.....i had to stay overnight in gosford last night cos the roads were closed off from the north and west of sydney, so we werent allowed past the hawkesbury. Then today they finally opened the road and we drove past the part where we had been stopped last night at the hawkesbury bridge, and it was all burnt and smouldering.....crazy how it happened so quickly. It didn't cross the hawkesbury fortunately, but the SES were telling us they thought it would soon.........anyway enough blabbering from me... 6 days, hundreds of dollars, much serotonin lost, 1700 km's and 2 doses of sasha will make a man crazy......

hope it all goes well, and they get put out soon!
i remember driving through burnt out forests in january this year, stank like smoke...
just felt sad..
(my mate moved to manly for uni and we did a roadtrip with him)
The fires are still burning, though they are mostly in the north of the city (around Brooklyn/Berowra areas). That's right on the outskirts of Sydney..
I'm safe because I live in the inner west (Enmore) - I figure if my house burns down in a bushfire, we have bigger problems
But Monday is not looking good, supposed to be extremely hot (low 40s) and strong winds :/
