Looking for some *Canadian* advice on Groovetech...
Hi,
Just starting to get into buying vinyl, and I may need to do some ordering online for particular tracks that I'm looking for. Groovetech.com comes highly recommended from numerous sources that I've received advice from, however, I have one question.
For anyone that has ordered from Groovetech, and lives in Canada, how was your overall experience? I guess my major concern has to do with customs and brokerage headaches - I've dealt with shipping things between Canada and the US a few times, and it's never been fun.
I'm obviously expecting to pay exchange rate, as well as GST on the purchase once it crosses the border, but has anyone had bad experiences, such as border vulture (aka Brokerages) fees?
I don't know much about groove tech, but I do order 90% of my tracks online, over dancegrooves.com. It's in holland, the records come by air express and it's totally amazing man, the best service you will ever find probably in the world. They all the latest tracks and a massive library. your tracks come in 5 days or less. It's totally amazing, home to black hole records as well.
So if your worried about groovetech than definately check dancegrooves out.

Hi,
Wasn't worried so much about groovetech as customs issues, but thanks for the suggestion - I'll check out that Dancegrooves.com site.
morninglory, that may be true, but aren't the shipping costs for dancegrooves outrageously expensive?
that's the only reason i've been refraining from ordering from them.
EDIT: the records themselves are pretty pricey as well... around 8 EUR average... that's like $14 CAD.. almost as much as they are locally.
why is chemical/juno so much cheaper?

Over here I get 3 records for $50, from dancegrooves I get 3 records plus the price of shipping for $50. I havn't done shopping on any other site, cause I trust dancegrooves now and don't want to take the risk of my orders not getting to me in time, or not getting to me at all. Just like everyone else (if it aint broke, don't fix it). Maybe someday we'll get some better record stores out here, so we can get into more of that beautiful experience of record shopping

good point. no matter what anyone says, record shopping in T.o. itself is outrageously expensive!!
you should try chemical once. shipping to toronto around a week. reliable and cheap. hell, even WITH shipping costs it ends up a lot cheaper than actually buying stuff here.
i mean...*cough*..support your local record store!

I'm happy with the price of the local stores, but the selection leaves something to be desired. Unfortunately, this is most likely because everyone picks over scraps unless you happen to be the first ones in after an order comes in.
Yah, i'm trying to get back into the whole scavanger hunting scene again It is alot of fun and i'm sure eveyone enjoys it, but sometimes you just can't find what you want here, so online is the best option. Maybe swamper should open up a tranceaddict record store huh? Cause he sure seems to knows what people want and don't.
