Yesterday night, a couple of glow-worms were in my room last night and I decided to keep them as pets. However, I've looked all over the internet and I can't find what they eat (if they need water and stuff). So far, they're glowing (a lot less then yesterday though), but I wonder for how long they'll make it. I put them in an empty aquarium, where I built a mini-forest for them (with lettuce and other vegetables ).
So, what do they eat? What do they need?

These things exist? Do you got a pic of them?
Only thing I can remember about Glow-Worms were that they were dolls (stuffed animals) in the 80's that their faces lit up or something...as a matter of fact, I think I had one LMAO. Wow, OLD SKOOL!

Do you know that insect that glows in the dark? (it's a very cool green light): I'm talking about those... here's a pic of what they look like

You've got to free them mate - they arent meant to be kept as pets.
Social interaction with hundreds of other glow worms is essential to their existence. By seperating them from others you are damaging them - thats why they are not glowing as much.

I guess you're right, Prototrance... I thought about it today and I thought they could be like one of those unique pets (like iguanas and stuff), but they don't seem to enjoy their new enviroment, so I'm gonna free them....
*looks at the glow-worms*
Damn, it was like having my very own candy-kid bugs

I'm glad about this - its the best thing for them. Some creatures just arent meant for domestication - you know?
I got a suggesstion though - put some minature glowsticks in a tank and you will think they never left

Hmm, only thing we have around here that "glows" is a firefly/lightning bug, and they're out during the summer months. But ours don't look anything like that. I thought you were talking of an animal that took on the actual appearence of a worm.
When I looked up in the dictionary, I found the name quite strange too, but since it's not my native language, who am I to disagree? Must be because my dictionary has the British vocabulary and the name is different in U.S? (the firefly/lightning bug you said)

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure what their real name is. Those ones I gave were just the generic names given to them by people.
