CNN or CBC
Just wondering what everyone thought about the coverage of the war as displayed on CNN and CBC. Personally, I think CNN is more like a soap opera in which events are articulated in such a way that grab peoples attention. I prefer the coverage by CBC, seems less biased but that's just my opinion. What do you think??
On a side note, am I the only one who thinks that watching war unfold live on TV is morally wrong. I mean what gives us the right to sit in front of a TV and watch a war unfold and people die from the comfort of our living rooms....kinda sad I think

(do I have to make a serious comment? OK, I think any media coverage of a war is sad. To us it's brutality and human tragedy, to them it's "news" and ratings.)

BET ???
Na the only reason I ask this question now is becuase I know how much war footage is left out of the news. I don't know who has seen the picture of a highway (through Bahgdad I believe) after the gulf war. Every car and truck on the highway was burnt to a crisp....most of them looked like civilian cars of Iraqis trying to flee the city. Images like these make me ill
Watching CNN last night made me feel like I was watching an infomercial about the US military (going on about how almighty and powerful they are)

AGREED.
Been watching CBC's war coverage ONLY! You get the same news but in my opinion it expessed in a less biased way. I am also suprised to see how much coverage they are giving the the war protests around the world (ie Vancouver) during the bombing. In addition they are showing speeches from other world leaders denoucing the fact that the US has decided to go to war with the world's support!
LONG LIVE THE CBC!

All BET has shown is the video for "bombs over baghdad" over and over and over.
it got kind of boring.

...and CNN provides great entertainment as long as you understand the difference between real news and entertainment
What sucks is that the CBC has been in a lot of financial trouble over the past fews years and the federal government has cut funding again. It would be nice to see the CBC as some level similar to that of the BBC, but any forward movement would be good

How dare you! BET never gets boring! I've watched the video for Ja Rule - Thug Lovin' eight times today and it still makes me want to go out and bust some caps!
The problem with CBC is that it's not exactly uniform from city to city... the CBC channel here in Kingston is totally different from the CBC in Toronto, so it's hard to generalize.

What am I gonna watch? Nothing. Because I have a life to live and I refuse to spend EVEN one seconds watching war crap. This is the last time I am posting on this issue. What happened the last time they went to war and the media hyped it? NOTHING. Our lives did not change. What happened when the media hyped y2k? Nothing happened after. Everything was fine. Same with this. NOTHING will happen and then afterwards we are all gonna say "oh that was it". I can't watch ANYTHING amusing on TV right now cause all I hear is war crap.
So in closing. What am I gonna watch? My Rat Race DVD. I encourage allothers to do the same and ignore this media crap. Watch something that is funny. Invite your Friends over. Call it a "I will not get hyped up by the media" party. Order a Pizza, have some drinks. Maybe even invite me over and we havea good laugh remembering how much fun it was and keep the TV off. Humour yourselves and ignore THEM (media) for now. Or at least cut down on watchng the news at least.

CBC is way better...I watched it last night and felt like I was learning something and gaining a better idea of what was going on. On CNN is was the same thing
BREAKING NEWS!!!
Explosions heard!!!
For 4 hours straight
It's funny, cause watching CNN seems so cliche; it makes me think of all the news parodies where they make a big deal out of something so trivial. Mad TV does a good job of it. They act all serious and professional...it's like they're trying too hard.
CBC on the other hand comes up with some new stories, theories, idea's...
