umm, those rubber mats are supposed to grip the platter...they're not really "slip" mats. (thats what comes stock with technics, right)

i dont kno how static would be effected by those, since they are rubber, and thus, dont conduct electricity. (could be why your records are so staticy, cuz the static has nowhere else to go...)

and i dont kno much about anti-static mats...but i do know that i have those wavy, velvety slipmats, and since ive had those, i havent had much static...but also, i do kno that static basicly will go away in time.

meh, it may not be of much help, but atleast its some insight to your problem

Bah, get rid of those damn rubber mats right now and get some propper slip mats.

Also, as far as feedback goes, have you only just got the decks. Make sure that the ground cables are connected. In case you're wondering what these are, they're the little wires that come out of the decks with the rca's. They need to be attached to a GRD (ground) connection. This is hopefully on the back of your mixer, it looks like a little screw normally.

Other possible reasons could be your stylus, loose cabling, exposed wires.

Erm, those rubber mats ARE the antistatic mats, but they are meant for regular playing only, not for djing (they weigh too much, so they slow the reaction down, and they are not meant for slipping either). Get yourself some cheap slipmats (or if you want the best ones, the acclaimed butter rug mats and the wonka (like the ortofon ones) are great).

I suggest you get a pair of real slipmats ASAP!
I cant even think of mixing with thoose, I can just hear how the
vinyl tears and blows up in a small mushroom cloud..

I have three different types, one pure felt that is low quality but
is the second best. One made of some polyester-antistatic sheit which
really sucks, literally sucks because it has such a firm grip on the
vinyl that you can barely cue it.

The best ones are 2 Technics slipmats which are some kind of mutation
between felt and some antistatic material, really really good.
Cost me about 20$, so worth it.

Along with those rubber "bricks" mats you should have also gotten two very thin sort of clear plastic 12" record shaped mats, those are your anti static mats to be used under regular mats, those clear plastic mats should eliminate virtually all of the static and make record cueing much easier, check out some mats at my friend's online Pro DJ Equipment store:
