Sure-fire way to tell trance apart from house?

Is there a sure-fire way to tell trance apart from house? In most cases, i can tell them apart easily, but there are songs that seem to fall somewhere inbetween, and those are the ones i'm having trouble with. Any suggestions?

house is funkier, whereas trance is just pure beauty...trance has a lot of emotional buildups and house is pretty steady all the way through

Any particular BPM ranges? With some examples if possible.

Actually some of my favorite music is the music that sounds like a cross between the two. It's a really cool sound. If you want to get a feel for what I'm talking about, download stuff by Three N One and 29 Palms.

But yeah, house music is funkier, and can conatain instruments like saxes and trumpets, which trance usually doesn't. It's also slower, and more about the groove of the track than the melody (Though the melody in house is still important). Generally, house has chunkier basslines as well.

BPM wise, house usually ranges between 120-130, but acid House (I.E. Carl Cox) can get up to 140 and above, but that's an exception.

trance = richer
plus euphoric synths & riffs

house is "drier" but not as "dry" as techno. steady & repetitive too. funky & dancey.

yeah, house is crap. trance isn't. almost everyone at some point in their electronic music careers has enjoyed a trance track.

i can't say the same about house music...
