Totally, I agree with the getting to know people part, but after a while if all they post is complaints or tons of pics of their kids, I just get bored and remove them from my feed. I look to fb for entertainment, and I like putting up stuff that entertains me in hopes that others will agree. But if I feel like someone's posts are more of a chore to sit through, it lessens that experience, so I hide them from my sight. It's not an insult, it's just not for me. Use it the way you see fit, of course, I just think there's something to be said for filtering your feed according to your tastes
