I'm thinking about going solo, but the drive is tough (19 hours).
A friend of mine that lives 3 hours south of me wants to go - he's a writer, too - but he has a kid and said if we can find a third to ride along then he'll come.
Anyways, this is a new idea I'm flirting with. Maybe look for a sponsor, create a website, and report from where the news is breaking and write about it. Independent journalism without the loopholes and ethics stopping me from getting my hands dirty and including myself in the story.
The hard part is the money to get me from point a to point b. I don't mind sleeping in my car, driving or whatever else it takes to make this happen. And I have the skills in HTML5/CSS3 and everything else to get it going the way it should be.
Yah, just an idea and thinking out loud at this point.
