Man up and go alone

It took me a long time to get over my fear of doing things alone, and it still hits me occasionally, but I really do love doing things alone. I love groups, too, don't get me wrong, but sometimes its fantastic to just go to the cinema/theatre/bar/restaurant/whatever by yourself.

Wow. Usual seat is the equivalent of 5.72. At the lodge where I sit it's 11$. :|

The interior looks great too (imo):

Jesus Christ. I'd go every week if it was that cheap. I go the Vancouver Opera for most of the season and then one or two of the ones the Seattle Opera puts on. Definitely not going to see any of The Ring this time around lol.

Sick fees. I tried getting some of my colleagues to tag along, but it's "too expensive", in other words: Boring, but don't want to admit it.

+1.

I still remember the first time I went out on my own (mainly because it's well documented right here). I didn't want to miss the opportunity to see Ferry Corsten live, yet no friend of mine wanted to go. It was nothing short of awesome.

As for going to the cinema/cafe by yourself, it's also good because more often than not, I'd go on my own but I'd meet friends and/or friendly strangers there. I've got loads of funny stories thanks to this habit.

One thing I haven't done is gone to a concert by myself. If someone I really wanted to see actually came to Seattle I might consider it, but I'd probably try to talk some friends into it and would just go by myself as a last resort.

However, some of my best stories started off with me deciding to go to a bar by myself.

It was well worth it

I was really self-conscious while the warm-up DJ's played because they sucked, but went nuts right after Ferry started playing (a random girl even approached me because she said she never saw anyone dancing so much for so long in her life ). Saw Tiesto (such a diva, hah) and Laurent Wolf next, always on my own.

Went with a friend for the first time yesterday to a rave last week (Oliver Klein). It was... underwhelming

I always have problems finding someone to go to clubs with, taken as most university colleagues go home during weekends - they're from out of town. Feels weird as fuck to go to a club by oneself.

I got this when I tried clicking the link.

I also sometimes go to concerts alone. Mainly because none of my friends are really interested in the bands/music I like.
I imagine it would be nicer to do stuff alone somewhere that isn't Norway, as we mostly keep to ourselves and are pretty shy around strangers.

Was it underwhelming due to Klein or due to your friend, or due to something else?

Before coming over here (England) I had only been to techno/tech-house/deep-house/top40 concerts and clubs. I always had fun, because when I'm dancing and drunk I always have fun, but had nowhere near as much fun as I did going to proper trance nights here. Part of that was just the music, but I can say without a doubt I wouldn't have had as much fun if I hadn't been there with people (System-J and JonDC). Their company definitely helped me enjoy it a ton more than I would have if I had just gone by myself.

Come here then! People were randomly giving free hugs last time Tiesto played in Brasilia.

PLUR!

A bit of everything. Although it was very nice of my friend to accompany me, he was visibly uncomfortable, and I didn't want to leave him alone while I bounced around the dance floor. Klein's music was also too soft/slow - to the point I was told 90 minutes into his set that he wasn't the warm-up DJ, so even if I did abandon my friend, it'd be just to get my money's worth.

Sounds great! Except for Corsten and Tiesto (the only two artists who played trance on each night), I can't say I've ever been to a proper trance night either. European TA's are so spoiled when it comes to music
