I've been going out a lot more lately than I have last few years. What do you do when a long term relationship ends? After you get off your couch, you party party party!
I went to Deep House brunch this Sunday & it was a lot of fun! I went last month hoping to see Charles Feelgood but I missed him as he didn't play the prime sunset slot! Anyhow so I decided I would be back this month as the vibe is great & it is an amazing view from up there. Friend I went with said it reminded him of partying in Miami. Who doesn't love a good raging dayparty with lots of dancing?
Wednesday I went to Clinic and saw Davi play. I just kinda showed up knowing Clinic would be a good time and was impressed with the new venue, Sayer's club, how many people were there, and how good Davi's set was. The venue is much better than Station1640/Couture was. Much better vibe there in part because of better layout.
Two weeks ago I saw Tycho at the Wiltern and that was dope. Tycho's live set was great and it was my first time at the Wiltern. More of a mature crowd. Ran into Chris Soltis at Tycho & Clinic.
I saw Hernan Cattaneo at Avalon in December. It was fun but I didn't bump into a single person I knew and I thought oh welcome to my 30s! A dude dancing near me had seen me yawning & not dancing at like midnight and asked me if I was not having a good time and I told him that the opener was being too slow for midnight and I started dancing as soon as Cattaneo kicked things off.
I also went to see Sasha at Academy in October and that was cool. I knew Sasha still has it because even though I didn't recognize any of the music he played, he still kept me dancing!
It's been a good start to the year and I look forward to lots more dancing!
Sayers Club looks like the old National where Monday Night Social used to be.
FOr a cool Carl Cox after party, check this out:

So yesterday would have been the Innervisions party in Barcelona. Instead of nursing a hangover, I'm requesting a refund on tickets
The DJ Tennis event that was supposed to happen in Chinatown back in March has been moved to October. But I'm kinda like "do i really need to go to that party?"

The sad part is that it might not even go forward in October. Hopefully it does.
I had 4 events on Resident Advisor. Got refunds for 2 of them, the other 2 were either postponed or I supposedly missed the cut off to ask for a refund. I have a feeling one might end up being a forced donation to "save our scene"

Yeah, fuck that! I paid for a party. No party, no "donation". That money can easily go to food for my family.

Looking forward to some parties in Bangkok. Mustache looks like it is opening soon. Almost went to a yacht party on July 18th before it was sold out but with everything still being shut down and uncertain I don’t want to take any chances. I will wait for things to be tested and kinks worked out.

Coachella: deferred to 2021 Lighting in a bottle: deferred to 2022 Burning Man: 80% reimbursement, 20% donation to BMOrg Sasha & Digweed @ the midway: I went with the 'just email us bro, and we'll hook you up with a free ticket to any show you want' (can't wait to see what happens with that!) Day to night festival: deferred to 2021
Total 'in the hole': just under $3k our of almost $4k we had in tickets. Here's to hoping we dont get fucked later.
