The very commercial brews in Australia suck. Waaay too hoppy in my opinion. Some really nice micro brewed beer. I quite liked Coopers Sparkling Ale (which is kind of in between the two I guess) but still wish it was a little less hopped. Yohan you should give Coopers Sparkling Ale a try if you haven't. It's an unfiltered ale.

He did, that was one of the first questions I asked him, when we were talking about beer
I tend to agree with your thoughts on AU beer, though.
And PKC: I can't find anywhere that sells Moo Brew up here My local bottle shop guy is a legend though, and is going to try and get some in

Hehe nice. If he goes down to Victoria he should pick up a state micro-brewery guide, describing the story and the location of all the state's micro-breweries, which I there are quite a few of.
p.s. have you tried Schneider's Aventinus Eisbock? Is it just me or does it taste like Marmite?

Aussie beer is very bitter so it takes a bit of time to get used to. That's probably why he didn't like any of them.
As a simple test, grab a commercial overseas brew that's brewed locally like a Heineken and Stella, plus others, then go to Europe and try their equivalents. The difference in aussie ones being bitter and the Euro ones being sweet is HUGE.
I find it hard to believe he thought it was all shit though. There's quite a bit of variety to suit any taste.
Yohan, what do you normally drink?

This one?
If so, yeah, I get them regularly
Marmite though? The stongest flavours in Aventinus seem like molasses and raisin/sultana to me

I asked if he'd tried Coopers, and he had. And, frankly, Boags isn't that good Cascade is better.

I'll try to get this Coopers Sparkling Ale at my local shop. Haven't tried that one yet.
