A stipulation by your, ahem... investors?

Pretty much. It sucks though because it makes me consider going into a field entirely different from what I am doing now.
I don't need a degree to get a good job in the programming field. I have a portfolio and experience that'd put any graduate to shame (as in I have it at all)... I am not sure exactly what I am doing there, but I have this draw towards law and history.
Everyone says don't be a lawyer in this day and age (and the ones saying that are lawyers) but I grew up around so many lawyers that it just feels natural to also go into it. Argh.
Shit I shoulda figured out 5 years ago.
Honestly if I put my head to the ground and just ran this project out I coulda probably sell it for a couple million and divest myself of it entirely and just go to school with out stress and focus on something I really like with out a care. Oh well... Its too damn hot.

What are you passionate about? What is the thing that you could do, even if you weren't paid a dime to do?

Its a tie between what I do now for no money (making military simulation software) and arguing with people (mostly on the internet).
So it doesn't really solve my problem.
Software or Law.

You need to stop thinking about what other think you're supposed to be doing. That's all indoctrination.
Life is not a straight line. School is not for everyone.
In some ways, College is a middle class rite of passage. Don't follow the herd.

Actually I'd do design and photography too, but those have always been more of hobbies. I really like both though and want to get better at them.

Honestly the whole thing I am doing now seems like it just sorta happened with out me planning it
I started out with an idea to make something better in this game and have fun learning about radios (because it was new) and then all of the sudden before it was even out we were being approached by huge companies (like way bigger than we could have/should have dealt with) and it was pretty overwhelming. We ended up with a nice deal with a smaller company, but one that was more focused in the industry (not a general defense contractor like the other ones), but it involved no funding, just a promise of promotion and sales handling. If my business partner's mom hadn't died in 2010 then we probably would have hit our release date (we had an initial round of publicity at a few trade shows, but then release dates started slipping).

So, it's done. Drop out this week, organize your portfolio and start hustling. We don't need any more indoctrinated code monkeys. We have enough of those already, and they are cheaper in India.
