My mom is friends with the daughter of the inventor of the disco ball .... When I see a non-motorized disco ball I am sad. It's like the earth isn't rotating.

Now that I am sober this bugs me even more. What the fuck is the point of a non-motorized disco ball!?

Very informative article about why windows 8 works the way it does. I honestly suspected as much. The desktop is great for normal (complex) windows things and the metro UI is great for when you're not in the mood to deal with complex things or you want things that work simply and easily or are a casual user.
Apparently according to the article the advent of metro means that microsoft feels it can actually make the desktop experience even more complex than it would otherwise as they don't have to worry as much about casual users.

So I finished my first informal interview with this company tonight. It sounds good... I might be doing 2-3 month visits to CZ and then working remotely the rest of the time from Seattle.
I pretty much have the position, they just need to figure out where I fit in their current plans.

Yea hopefully it works out. I am not getting too excited till it's a done deal. I know this company and a lot of people at it, so I am cautiously optimistic.
