Out for a morning run in the trails, on a beautiful, warm and sunny morning. Fatty and her 3 friends are walking ahead of me, pretty much covering the entire width of the path. As I approach, I twice call out "excuse me", with zero reaction on their end. As I'm squeezing by, bovine-like being moos out, "WELL, JUST GO AROUND, THEN!" Hey manatee with legs, if I thought there was sufficient clearance on the *shared* path to go around your self-centred asses, do you think I would have used the words "excuse me"?

Bitched out for attempting to be polite. Unbelievable.

from one runner to another, i've been in that situation plenty of times, and if it's not people that are creating a log jam on the path, it's the person who is walking their dog with the extendable leash and they've got the path blocked off that way.

i always try and scream out "on your left" and then pass by. invariably what happens is, the person(s) doesn't hear you because they are either talking or listening to ipod, and then when i pass, they jump back like i'm some kind of would-be-attacker.

and you are EXACTLY right, that kind of situation can really, really ruin an otherwise nice run for a while.

To be fair, you need to allow people of that size at least 5 mins for course correction.
