No more nasty than most chemical reactions being done to foodstuffs.
You know how they make aspartame for your diet soda?
They feed petroleum and gas to a gene-modified E.Coli strain, which then in turn poops out something that's only a couple chemical washes away from being aspartame. Yay.
I said it the first time I tried a Coke Zero. This tastes like shit. Turns out I was right.
Aspartme is pretty damaging stuff. It's been implicated in causing MS before. It also tends to give me a headache... which is something I'd associate with some kind've nasty preservative and not a "completely safe sugar alternative". I'm glad a lot of products have moved onto stevia. That stuff tastes so much better and is a lot safer. There's some seriously tastey 10 calorie stevia mineral water I've been drinking a fair bit of lately.

Yeah, it's pretty nasty. It doesnt really give me headaches as much as I just feel really, really sick, because of all the insulin being pumped out to tackle the sugar that never comes.
Stevia is ait, but tastes a little licoricy imo. I don't mind sugar at all really, so I don't wye from it. I don't think I could have maintained calorie intake and weight if I was to remove sugar from my diet. I'll probably gonna need new teeth by 50 though haha.
