One of my best friends. He was my closest friend for 10 years or so. • I wasn't "emotionally prepared" to accept his religion, but I intellectually knew that it was right and true, saying I was a despicable human being because I didn't mourn a friend's death the way he thought I should;
  
• I - and everyone else in Honshuu - was going to die/get cancer/glow in the dark if we didn't leave the country right away after the Fukushima accident, because we didn't know what was going on... despite the fact we were in Ja-fucking-pan, spoke the language, and could access the damage with our own eyes! The guy was more annoying than my own mother!

i talk about pirates (pirates of the Caribbean, they have all seen the illegal dvd.) I make them say ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGH. The L is up for debate. They can't grasp it. I get paid no matter what, but i refuse to fail. Their pirate noises sound strangely like whooping cough. It's why i drink.

chinese is spoken in the front of the mouth because of the tones. french is more guttural/back of mouth/throat. they have trouble with r and l in english classes too....fuuuuuuuuu.

Would it be too inappropriate if you taught them first to pronounce the French "r" as the Chinese "h"?

As for the "L/R" distinction, be it in English or in French, try to explain the letter "L" is pronounced with the tongue tilted to one side of the mouth letting the air flow through the other side... and the letter "R" is the other sound. How about that?

i'mma give it a go.

pinyin makes 0 sense, it is like a knockoff of a pretend language. like most chinese products.

my chinese is very basic, after all i've been here like 2 months...but the h is not quite the same. french is enthusiastic. chinese people are starving.
