So uh, I put windshield washer fluid in my coolant tank by mistake today. Fortunately I realized this RIGHT after I screwed the cap on and knew enough not to start the engine. Called up the dealership and said "I did something REALLY stupid..." and the guy laughs hysterically, of course. So I got CAA to take it to the dealership and have it drained, which was awesome - from the time it was towed to the time they finished it was under an hour. When I went to pick my car up it was washed (as they always do when I take it in for any kind of service) and they didn't charge me anything. Obviously they felt sorry for my fucking moron ass. Lol.

The symbols they use for those are fucking idiotic. They can't just write the words 'Window washer fluid' on one of them? I know under my hood both tanks look almost exactly the same.

Right?? I'm not making excuses for myself - because if I had just read the goddamn owner's manual this wouldn't have happened - but both lids are blue, and they're right beside each other. I was doing it in my garage where it was poorly lit, so I just saw the coolant tank and said to myself "Well that looks like it has some kind of fluid in it, must be it!"...ignoring my own brain's warning thought that also said "But that fluid is pink, pretty sure windshield fluid isn't pink...", also ignoring the other thought that said "There's some kind of engraved image on that other blue cap, maybe you should see what that is first?"
Total bullshit. Fucking Germans. Clearly they assume people who drive their cars are intelligent enough to figure out the difference between a coolant tank and a windshield fluid tank. Pfffft.
