The last few weeks have been nuts. My younger step-daughter (she's 19) suddenly progressed from having "absence seizures", which she has had since she was in her single digits, to full blown epileptic seizures which cause her to pass out and then stop breathing. She was driving when she had one, and had a minor (thankfully) accident. On the way to the ER she stopped breathing multiple times. Her husband, also a 19 year old kid, tried to administer CPR, but I'm pretty sure he had no idea WTF he was doing.
In any event, she ended up spending a week in a CCU bed in a hospital in Murfreesboro and is now home under our care (mom is an LPN), and she is seeing an epileptologist. She has some brain damage, so we're working on motor skills again, especially walking and hand/finger dexterity (eating is a challenge). She was on two medications, but they reduced it to a single med, as for her weight (88 lbs) and age, even the lowest possible dose was too much for her.
Kids...they'll scare you to death AND make you go gray.
