Yeah, but that's not how it works, obviously. You don't fudge the 'variables' to get the answer you want, you stick in the correct figures to get the most accurate answer. Well, for fun maybe, to see what size a galaxy needs to be to have the number of civilizations equal one..... but certainly not in an exam!
I used the term 'variables' as the factors taken into account in the Drake Equation are changing and getting more accurate over time (we hope).
