So yea, I didn't use an entirely wrong word, just the wrong spelling of a word that means almost the exact same thing.

Talking about knowledge, I need to say something about marriage: Now that I'm married, I'm even more puzzled as to why it even exists.

I was already committed to my girlfriend... the whole thing is just redundant. Someone should tell gay people about it

Well in most countries marriage allows you a number of legal options for things like shared property, personal rights, etc.

It is more of a legal status than a romantic status. It is a strange institution, but I think it has merit, in so much that things like raising kids and such can benefit from the legal framework that it offers.

cognoscente is actually a noun; it doesn't refer to knowing, but a person who knows.

being italian i presume its pronunciation, cog-no-sen-tay is quite different to cognisant. if you haven't heard a person pronounce it differently there's a good chance they're as ignorant as you are.

True enough for equality among sexual orientation, but surely you understand how the state has a vested interest in making sure those who are married are actually committed, at the very least in financial culpability.
