Hahaha, I'm paying my friend (a well known Toronto local) to do it. He knows what I like and what our expectations are, and he has an extensive background in music, not just straight up rave tunes. It's gonna be so good!
The best is, the wedding planner emailed me early on saying "So your guy isn't regularly a wedding DJ right? Because the DJ/music can make or break a wedding, and my guy is only xxxxx dollars!
I had a good lol, and was glad to know how much it costs to pay some dickhead I don't even know to play top 40, when I'm paying my friend just a bit less than the wedding planner's quote to play actual good music.
One of my other friends is a professional photographer too, so same deal. Get him plus an assistant for 10 hours and all images edited for WAY less than we' d have to pay a stranger of the same calibre- and not cheesy wedding photo shit.
It just feels good to know I'm giving business to my friends and not strangers, especially for such an important occasion. I know it'll add to the overall vibe of the day too.
