Men At Work's Colin Hay shot himself in the foot, though, with this:

the crazy thing is the original rights holder never sought any damages, and this company that did bring the action has only owned the rights since 1990 (which in itself is a bloody long time to wait to bring action).

He then went on to claim that the person was a Liberal staff member, it was a fake name and not anyone who lived in his electorate - even going so far to claim he knew everyone who lived in his electorate and he had also checked the electoral role (I would have thought a questionable action in itself).

The newspaper tracked this blogger down, sure enough a real guy, no links at all with the Liberal party, it was his real name, he lived about 2 streets away from Atkinson's electorate office, and this guy's wife had been into the office to have things signed.

Atkinson also claimed news websites and blogs were hotbeds of criminal defamation and lies, and thats why they needed the law.

We all knew Atkinson was a twat, but the law and him claiming this guy didn't exist was just the icing on the cake.
