Interesting to see Twan's interviews posted on here. I started watching them a few months ago, and really like a lot of them. I think Twan used to work with Ferry Corsten/Flashover Recordings. I am not sure if he works in that role anymore.
He was actually one of the first people in the industry that ever responded to a demo/promo email I sent back around 2010. He was very polite even though I was not anywhere near ready sending promos/demos at that point.

Eve PVD put out some records that are not what we consider trance (i.e. Pump this party etc) but I think what he's trying to do is say there's difference between club trance and trance, which is bollocks.
The first time I went to holland, I think in 1996 I went to a a few clubs and all of them were really playing house - some hard house, some dare I say it handbag-ish stuff, actually probably not too far from what those Armin tracks were.
I actually think he wanted to just be a DJ and producer and was just throwing shit against the wall to see what would take...and Blue Fear did take. I think that's when he decided to be a trance producer.
Back in the UK in around 1997, I remember Ferry playing his first UK gig at the camden palace, and Graham Gold was quite proud of the fact he was being a champion of the "dutch sound" that was coming around and within a year, it somewhat dominated and it was really all about Ferry, Tiesto, Vincent De Moor, Misjah etc.
Armin was really just starting out and frankly, even though he had hits later like communication and LSS, he was a minnow comapred to Ferry et Al until the 00's when his career eclipsed them.
Unlike Ferry I believe Armin wasn't really aware of the scene in Germany and Belgium. He never talks about gabber or hardcore of that time and I don't think he listened both in those days. So what got played in clubs like iT and Roxy in Amsterdam, maybe Nighttown in Rotterdam or Danssalon in Eindhoven was his reference. Trancy tracks they played there is what I think he calls club trance. Tracks like this one and later R.O.O.S. - Instant Moments.
Watch the two interviews I post below. Shows a bit how Ferry did get influenced by harder genres because he lived in Rotterdam, (where Tiesto worked in a record shop) and was surrounded by producers who were a few years older than him.
Ferry was part of Tellurians.

Two really nice interviews Twan did with Robert Smit who made "The Tellurians - The Navigator" together with some others (one is young Ferry).
I must say I never heard this track in 1992, so wasn't aware of it.
But that was different for that other one: "The Generator - Where Are You Now?"
As it's time for you guys to learn some Dutch Twan did these interviews in Dutch, but was nice enough to add English sub, so turn them on and enjoy

This is a great interview Twan did a year ago, also interesting if you don't like Eurodance at all. Enjoy

There's an early version of 'Spiral' without the lead pad melody that he must have sent out to a few people in 2003. Ben Lost plays it in this set:
