Isn't he the sibling who had a divorce just recently, and was hanging out with his ex-wife's current boyfriend?
Don't let it bother you. Isn't he bitter about pretty much everything else in the world right now? I've been in a somewhat similar situation a few years ago, and sibling rivalry makes it much more intense.
Keep up the good work and give it a few years. It's probably a matter of time until he gets his act back together, I hope
