even though it's only may and college is too far in the future, i'm already starting to get stressed out about picking dorms, moving in, living on my own, etc.

what are some of the necessary things a freshman should know about college? what to expect, what to be aware of? calm me down, will ya

One word, WOMEN. I've never lived in a dorm (I commuted) but one thing I remember is the women and the parties. Esp at my first two years at Uni. The music was good, they dropped everything, no real trance (except my third year the dj there loved trance and dropped some PvD, rank 1 etc). Mostly it was some top 40 (blah), hip hop (blaH), drum and bass which was awesome! The women the majority of the time was 90% wowz!!

where u going to school? im going to University of California at santa cruz...good school but gets a bad rap for being a party school...not that i mind

i'm gonna go to U of Mass Amherst... computer science program = good; honors college = even better. it gets criticized for being a party / drinking school too... but that's not what i'm going there for. need a nice roommate though

whiskers you know I don't mean this in a way to offend you but one KEY thing you're gonna have to learn when going to school is managing your money holding a tight budget and not being stupid about it

i know santa cruz got ranked relatively high as a party school. But everybody i know that goes there tells me its a lie. But i'll give you guys props on the weed smoking dept. holy!

if you don't have a car... make friends with somebody who has one. Try everything at least once.

If you fall behind, catch up as soon as you can... b/c if you get to far... you will never catch up. Remember F's will show up on a transcript even if you retake it and pass. Employers dont like that.....

parties suck... they are full of ppl who just learn to drink and whose only aim is to get drunk... and music? hip-hop all the time

HAHHA yeah it also gets huge rap for being the top cannabis college in california...or among the top...but ill stick to drinking do you happen to go to UCSB?

def dont sleep through all your classes! i did that one semester freshman year and my grades showed for it...

go to class, try to sit in the first few rows so the professor recognizes you and will eventually appreciate your sucking up. heh...

also, try and meet as many people as possible. some people get stuck in the idea that the people you live with have to be your only friends- so be real friendly to people in class, at parties...etc
