Forget about them, it's Numark TTX1s or Technics SL1200/1210 MKII/M3D/MK5/MK5G. Nothing else is comparable to the durability, reliability and dependability of Numarks or Technics.

I've used them, they're great.. but as someone else mentioned, there are better turntables on the market now.

Stanton ST150/STR8150, Numark TTX1 (which is now shipping with an improved 4.5kg/cm torque motor, matching the stanton's power) Even check out the PDX-2300 if you like the vestax line.

But, I can't deny that the arm of ALL numark turntables are pretty bad

Sorry to dig this topic outta grave but is this true that the TTX1 has the "improved 4.5kg/cm toque motor"?

the pdx2000 are a fantastic deck. in my opinion they shit all over the ttx1, and i finds them better to use than any technics deck.

they are incredibly durable and extremely high quality. the features are amazing and beat the shit out of anything else on the market. anyone who thinks the ttx1 is a better deck seriously needs their head looking at.

the new mk2 pro versions are even better, with new platter and tonearm setup.

Yea the mk2 pro vestax do look very cool.

I know there obviosuly designed towards scartchers/hip-hop dj's but Tu face are they brilliant for mixing?

Is it easier to beatmatch than it is with technics,ttx1 or the str8150's?

I read on another topics that Technics are only slightly better in terms of sound quality than the mk2 pro's but is this noticiable as a bedroom dj?

they are great for mixing. you need to get the right carts though (the straight arm gives a bit more record wear) but you can use the money you saved not buying technics or have a look at the pdx2300 with the J arm.

i find it easier to beatmatch using them, but thats because i am used to them, technics are really just as easy to beatmatch with, although i do find i can do it quicker on the vestax. as far as mixing with ultrapitch, the str8150 and ttx1 (and for that matter the technics m5g) are pretty hard to use as they just increase the pitch range on the fader, whereas the vestax just increases the starting point keeping the same accuracy on the fader.

as far as sound quality is concerned, certainly in the bedroom you won't notice much difference if any at all.

Vestax decks are supreme. I have some friends that don't scratch and use Vestax. The Numarks and the Stantons don't compare, for me Vestax is the only alternative to Technics. Personally I use Techs but thats only cause I couldn't imagine calling myself a DJ and not having at least 1 pair of Techs. I'm sure I'll get a pair of those PDX MK2s sooner or later.

Ok thanks for your 2 replies. You have made me even more keen to go & buy the pdx-2300 mk2 over the mk5g's since they are good as you make them out to be.

I like the fact that u can pitch bend which would be handy if a track is a tad out of sync with the one your are mixing.

Whats the wow & flutter like on the Vestax's? Is it noticable & will it at any point in mixing knock the track your are queing out of sync even though it was in sync like 10 secs ago.

I have experienced this problem a couple of times with the Numark TT200's but there isn't really a comparison is there!?

Though are they they best deck out there? I mean if its better than a mk5g then it must be?

The last question i want to ask you Tu Face is what do the 2300 mk2 pro's look like up front? Do they look ugly or not?

Im kind of iffy on the pdx decks. I have friends that use em and love them, but, there are the small things i dont like. For example, the threading on the feet is plastic and prone to breaking (we actually broke one while moving) and second the platter is too high and thin for my personal liking. Otherwise, there great decks.
