For those in favour of denoucing hate!
| quote: | FRANCE AND GERMANY: RECOGNIZE ALL OF HAMAS AS A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION
The cease-fire that we all hoped would lead to a more peaceful future for Israel and the Palestinians has been shattered by Hamas terrorism. Recently, over a hundred Jewish children and their parents were maimed and massacred in an instant when a Hamas Imam detonated a bomb that destroyed a Jerusalem bus. This latest outrage -- and the failure of the European Union and others to move decisively against terrorism -- means that we must intensify our efforts against Hamas and those who excuse their crimes against humanity.
We at the Simon Wiesenthal Center do not accept that certain world leaders continue to allege that Hamas is a legitimate peace partner even as they continue to mass murder Israeli civilians.

Last month, tens of thousands of you joined with the Center in appealing directly to European Commission President Romano Prodi asking that he lead the way in reversing the EU's decision to regard Hamas' political wing as separate from its military wing. To date, we have not received any response from Mr. Prodi or anyone else at the EU.
The EU's silence is inspired, in large measure by the failure of France and Germany to heed the U.S. and England's request to delegitimize Hamas. Indeed, even after the latest horrific attack in Jerusalem, France's top diplomats continue to insist that there is no evidence that Hamas is a terrorist organization and the EU has refused to support efforts to freeze Hamas' assets! We therefore ask you to protest directly to French President Jacques Chirac and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and demand that they treat the totality of Hamas as a dangerous, terrorist entity. The key points of our protest include:
*In June 2003, the European Union vowed that they would reconsider labeling the political wing of Hamas as a terrorist entity if Hamas failed to support the peace process and continued conducting suicide bombings. No such move has yet been undertaken.
*Hamas' very covenant, which invokes the infamous and debunked The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, would violate anti-hate laws in both France and Germany. The Holocaust denial and Jew-baiting would be prosecuted under the anti-hate laws of these democracies. The notion that such an entity, committed to murdering Jews and eliminating Israel, could be treated as a legitimate partner for peace is dangerous and outrageous!
We at the Simon Wiesenthal Center are taking our battle to the leaders of the international community from Capitol Hill to the Foreign Minister of Canada to the OSCE talks in Vienna. Our message is clear: We will not rest until there is a unified and strong commitment from European leaders that Hamas -- all of Hamas, both its political and military wings -- is officially recognized and treated as a terrorist organization.
Can we stop Hamas terrorism? Perhaps not. But together we can demonstrate to an arrogant and forgetful Europe that we will not be silent to their intransigence that encourages more murder of Jews! Your support is essential as the Center fights to expose the truth about Hamas.
