I found some decent wave samples off of kazaa. Couldnt find any other good nature sounds though.. I think I'll just rent out some sample CDs from my college and rip them

yeah, just steal the sounds from sim games n crap, like age of empires 1 & 2 n shit
some u may have to rip because they in beefy blocks and dont exist as single wav files
Don't forget that if you want to be really serious theres always the option of going to the store and getting one of those cheepy relaxation tapes - you know, the kind to help you sleep or get your mind off of work... I've heard them in rainforest, ocean, and I'm sure theres alot more.

Hollywood Edge Premiere Edition and BBC samplecd's. They are pretty much a standard in movies. If they weren't able to record a specific ambience or sound themselves, you can be pretty sure they'll use one of those two series of samplecd's. Professionally recorded, stereo and high quality.
Don't forget most games use 22050 Hz samples (and even if the game has a 44.1kHz option, it's usually just interpolated).
I almost got the whole range (thank you school ). If you get the whole range + extra editions, I think you're looking at 6-7000 $ of sample cd's.

If you want high quality sound FX then what you want is the Blue Box Sound FX set (16CDs). There is one whole CD devoted to waves and seagulls and the quality of the samples is just amazing!
