Hello! LFO question...

I realize that many VSTi's have their own native LFO's to modulate their sound, but is there some sort of third party LFO (like an insert or send effect) I could use for synths that don't already have one? I would imagine so, since it seems like such a routine operation, but I don't know where to find one (and if it will be high quality).

That new Antares filter can do some wicked filter LFOs.

Shouldn't have said that, now I want to get it. Maybe I'll try demo.

It's well worth the price, no doubt about that. You can feed some relatively dull sounds into it and it comes out sounding amazing.

If you're using Fruityloops, this is what you can do. I noticed this a few weeks ago and has really helped me get better results.

Just put a peak controller in one of the effects channels. On this controller there is a LFO, which you can use as a...well...LFO.
Find the knob you want to modulate, right click on it and press 'link to controller'. You can thenk link the knob to the lfo and voila, there's your modulation...

The Fruity Formula Controler is great too! U can do some simple or complex 2 levels LFOs with it.

didn't know about that link to controller thing.. this is what is use:

just right click on any knob and use 'edit events'. there is a very very handy LFO tool there. if you can't right click a knob, go to the menu, choose 'edit events' then the knob you wish. the problem with many synths is that the knob names don't appear so you'll have to guess what 'CC 103' means

The cc 103 stands for the midi message you are controlling. In the manual of most synth all the knobs and sliders are assigned to these midi message, so you can quite easily guess which one you have to change...

I will have a look at that Formula Controller, haven't ever used it.

hum, Paranoiko's ideia is good too, probably the best to do if u wont modulate the LFO, cuz u will save cpu power/memory u would hav to spend with an extra plugin just for that.

But if u want to modulate or change in whatever way the LFO parameters, u need the formula controler or some external LFO plugin.
