Time to reflect (new year thread)

Well guys, another year has come and gone. I for one, am not sad to see it go. Don't get me wrong, this year was monumental for me in more ways than one. The highs were high, and the lows were really low. Unlike last year, and so many others, this one will definitely not be forgotten. A lot of people have come and gone. Some due to very unfortunate deaths, and others just simply because we couldn't settle our differences.

As I think back on the passing year, I can't help but feel ambivalent, or even ambiguous. Part of me feels older and wiser for having seen and experienced some of the things I did, and another part of me feels like the world robbed me of my childlike exuberance. All in all, this year has been quite trying on my patience and emtional stability, and yet, I regret nothing.

There's something to be said about the relation between losing all hope and having a newfound sense of optimism. Maybe it's like Tyler Durden said "It's not until we lose everything that we're free to do anything".

...So in the spirit of hopefulness, I'd like to wish you all a happy new year. My only resolution this year, is to try and be hopeful that the upcoming year will be bigger, and better.

2003 was probably the most challenging year of my short life.
It's not too often that all facets of your life are put to the test at the same time. The test of all tests I'd say.

I've survived, and it was worth it. So much good has come from so much bad. If you didn't have to struggle for things, you probably wouldn't appreciate what you've acheived right?

I definitely appreciate this year of endurance and will take these experiences with me.

I know 2004 is going to be a great year. It's a new beginning. The big changes are over and it's time for growth.

I will definitely miss our lunches on bloor st. Mr Furious! Too bad they were so short lived.

All the best,

/finary

I so feel you on that! Last year was ridiculously rammed with so many events, many new and a bunch that I've experienced before. Luckily though, I'm a big believer in extracting the positive points from any and every situation, so I'll hang in no matter how bad it gets.

This year's started off at an alright pace for me, but I think it's partly a test of my patience. I'm really looking forward to it all.

My brief reflection

Last year was a great year for me. Moved up to NY at the end of 2002 and started making trips up to TO where the dance scene is the best I have ever been around (except at my buddies house on fri and sat night ). Got engaged (the topper) and met a lot of really nice and cool people while doing it all. There have been some low points but i learn from them and move on and besides, they dont even compare to the highs. I think this year is going to be just as good and I cant wait to see what it has in store for me. I wish everyone else a great year to come as well.
