Burnt CD sounds good on everything except disc man..?
I just finished a track that I burnt onto CD to send off to a few labels and producers. Problem is, it works fine in my computer, and two of my friend's computers, and in a home stereo...but when I put it in my discman (which is a new sony) and turn the volume relatively loud, it gets completely distorted.
I thought that maybe the track is over 0 db so I mixed it down again making sure it never went above -1 db.
I can listen to other CDs in my discman at max without any distortion, so this leads me to believe I've screwed something up or something's wrong somewhere.
Can any give me any ideas as to what the problem could be or how to fix this? Should I be concerned or just figure it works on 5 outta 6 things, hopefully it'll work for the people I send it to?
Thanks for your help!

Bass boost? I know in mine if I have bass boost on max, even sometimes with commercial CDs, I get severe bass distortion.

That's hardly a good reason.
Mastering doesn't make diamonds out of turds.
(And that doesn't mean your tunes are turds, it's just a figure of speech)
Maybe you can post a part that distorts on high volume, so maybe one of us can tell you what causes it?

maybe you left your tune un-normalized? I always try to normalize my mixes to atleast 95% of MAX peak-value.. that should avoid clipping (distortion)

Yeah, it's definately clipping that occurs with bass boost on. I don't know what exactly the so-called "bass boost" does, but it also provides a strong hike to the high-end as well. Perhaps it's some really basic compression that sends it over the edge. *Shrug*
