Electronic music is just pulling in a large enough (countable) fan base now that new venues are opening up for the DJs. Naturally some of them are testing the waters and others are completely selling out (Moby). It'll be interesting to see which DJs remain true to their roots that their musical genre came from and which decide to try for bigger and better things.

Well, PvD appeared in a Motorola commercial not too far back...I remember seeing DJ Rap in a Twix commercial too. Might not be the greatest thing for EDM but I understand how the artists want to make money.
It doesn't surprise me how Oakenfold and BT are doing this. BT has been doing music for movies and even video games now and Oakenfold has been doing music for movies too. I guess their just looking for more ways to make money and get their music out there.

Electronica is always used in commercials, and has been for as long as I can remember. Actually, it's primarily the place that you hear in the US.
If it's not used in commercials then they use it for background music in a show. But very rarely will you hear a song on the radio or see a music video.
