That about sums of the US music scene. Most of the ravers around here know crap about music, all they know is "local DJ such-and-such is playing, and I'm getting in for free!" They could care less if Tiesto is playing three hours a way in DC, or Paul even. It's sad in Philly, I mean there ARE people that know who's-who's, but the average raver here would say, "Who's Rank 1?"
I make copies of Marco V, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Scott Bond, etc and give them to everyone I know so they get a taste of good music. It's mainly Techno in Philly right, I like techno, just some of the guys that play it aren't that great at it.
Face it, WE are a select group that gets the benefit of knowing how great music can get.

Even here in Switzerland not all "trance-addicts" know about "rank1". I know quite a few people, those peeps I go to clubs/raves with btw, who couldnt careless about djs all around the globe. I mean, of course they know about some djs like picotto or pvd, but just about everyone know them, so thats not a criteria. They know the national djs very well, quite better than me, but the rest is not interessting for them. they know that mind-x or snowman spins, so go there and good music is guaranteed. they are all about the music and not about names. I mean not everybody is hanging in the internet like us, or go to vinyl-shops. Its just like basketball for example. not everyone who is playing bball knows all about the NBA. but i think they are not less addicted to the music than me.

I think this is because a part of them aren't interested in trance or progressive, and the other part is trying to be djs only like a fashion.
Here, in Mexico, there is a big school of Hard House ("Underground Construction"?), in fact this was the fisrt genere to be produced here, so maaaany djs are playing it, and they know almost nothing about trance, or they aren't looking for names of producers.
Lately I found that many young people is trying to enter in the scene, because they want to impress everybody else or they just like it like a soft hobbie, but they don't have that special feeling for mixing or they know nothing about the scene. They just want to know how is this and how does it work.
But I think that we can theach them a few, lol....
