What to look for in second hand technics 1200's

Alright, im thinking of buying new 1200's, however, if for some reason i cant get the cash together i need to know what im looking for in second hand ones.

what tends to go wrong? how do people manage to degrade their old decks? what tends to be a problem with second hand 1200's?

ive heard how good they all are, no matter how old, so please dont tell me that, but seeing im new to DJ'ing i was hoping for some help seeing some of you seem to know a LOT!

Thanks~!

yeah, unfortunately buying used poses a huge problem to looking on EBay . . . you can still have a nice looking deck with internal probs . . .

the best way is to use them first if you can, that way you will be able to tell if theres any motor torque problems or anything like that.. although obviously this would be quite hard over ebay or something..

You are taking a risk by buying over EBay but most likely techs are going to be all right because they're solid and last a long time. Be sure to look at the seller's feedback rating too, if it's good they're not likely to sell you a defective turntable.

Or even post in the buy and sell forum here. I'm pretty sure fellow TA's would not try to screw you over.
