then maybe try decreasing your master volume

PS : give to give a decent title to your thread like volume problem or distortion problem. I'm getting sick of those why/what/how/... threads

Thanks for the tip, it was common sense but I didn't think of it... just went to the busiest part of the song, then turned it down till the clipping light went off. And I'll remember that title advice for the future so I don't make anyone more sick
