Generally speaking, if you practiced say one hour a night. How Long? I'm on my second set of Sure M44G's in 8 months. My first pair got messed up at a gig, but I got the second pair in Febuary. Only problem is I think I might be due for some new ones again. My current carts have started making an audible almost static sound with most of my records, even new ones. So, I was just curious

if you setup your tonearm correctly and don't fuck around too much, they should last a whole lot longer. Something's wrong

well, I don't know what the problem would be. I have the height set correctly, had the tone arm balanced, and added 1 gram of weight (suggested .75-1.5G) I don't see why this would be a problem

Are you sure you're records aren't just in need of a clean. You said it happens with most records. Are these the ones that are need of a cleaning?

could it be your faders?Also I had the m44-7's and mine lasted about a year and a half and thats with some scratchin and backspins.You might want to see if you set them up right again or as I said before it might be your faders.(that was my problem once I got new faders and everything was clean again.)Also make sure to keep your speaker far away from your setup so the thumps don't move your needles around too much.

well, I hope it's not the faders I just spent $1000 on my new Pioneer DJM-600 three months ago. dirty records could be a prblem as well, I didn't think about that. I ran out of fluid about a month and a half ago and I've been using a dry rag to clean

I've had my ortofon nightclub's for three years now with the same stylus. As long as you take real good care of them and don't needle drop them a lot, they will last a hell of a long time. My needles still sound and ride in the groove just as good as the day I bought them.

BE VERY CAREFUL!!! That usually leads to a hell of a lot of surface scratches on your record m8. I would use some fluid, or if anything try and use that homemade solution that works the same as groove glide. I think it's 50/50 alcohol and water. I don't think that's exactly it but I would check into it.

50/50 alcohol and water does seem to work and help. It's not the same as gruv glide but it does clean vinyl pretty good. Just be sure to use a high percentage of distilled alcohol, and distilled water when making the solution. As for the brush, use a velvet or carbon brush if you have one.
