Final Scratch 1.5.4

Anyone using the latest FS 1.5.4 (PC)? I just recently picked it up and it's been working great except for one small, but large problem. It doesn't seem to matter how well I have beat matched the records, once I restart the record coming in, I am constantly having to re-adjust the pitch, like it's somehow changed since I took the needle off the record. It's not a huge difference, but enough to warrant changing and adjusting ever so slightly all the time. I don't have nearly as much trouble with normal vinyl, it's just with FS. Besides that, the software works fine, the music sounds good, it doesn't crash and works great. But that annoys the hell out of me.

welcome to the world of final scratch ...the worst 500 dollars you could ever spend .

Trust me, I've been using it for awhile now since the days of version 1.0 and I've never been happy. You should've read my post:

go take it back before you really loose your money. Tech support = not there! They never have anyone working and it takes them weeks, sometimes months to get back to you.

GET YOUR MONEY BACK!!!!!!!! TRUST ME!!!

TFS is changing the pitch on you becuase it is lossing the timecode fora little bit and when it picks the signal back up it is in a slightly different place. To avoid the sound of the song jumping to the new place it changes the pitch to slowly (relativly slowly that is) get to the right place.

To solve this you need to adjust the "Position Smoothness" bar in the setting under the preference pane.

EDIT - The "Lower" it is (closer to the left), the more closely it is reading straight from the vinyl and the less it is "smoothing" (pitching) the song.

i had fial crash too. you should consider yourself lucky that it doesn't crash as bad as the linux version did. Ever since stanton decided to ditch N2IT for Native instruments, final scratch had never been the same. Tech support is horriable too. I had a defective scratch amp from when i first bought FS and it took well over a month of bitching and constant long distance phone calls w/ no answer until stanton decided to do something well after i had given up and returned the damn thing. Go serato/rane Scratch Live. Fuck final scratch!!

I didn't know that, thanks, I'll give that a try. I've also read I should try the 45RPM sides, some people have had better luck with them.

Well, so far it's a little better, making that adjustment and using the 45RPM sides. I'm going to play around with it a bit more before I make a final judgement. To those of you that have had problems, that's unfortunate, it has worked for me flawlessly out of the box since I got it (minus this small annoyance I have with it).
