Evil1 end of a myth? the book about Lance Amstrong

so i dunno if u've heard about this book which has been released lately ...i dunno the name in english but it's called "LA confidentiel les secrets de lance amstrong" by pierre ballester journalist for the french sport magazine "l' equipe " and david walsh reporter for "the sunday Times " ....they led an investigation about lance amstrong since the beginning of his career til what he became now and interviewed the irish therapist Emma O' reilly who followed lance from 1999 til around 2002 ....and was the confident of lance ...
some extracts from the book has been published by a french magazine and i've just finished to read them ....but this book seems to destroy the image of lance and shows just that he used EPO or corticoide though it's forbidden .....

but let's be realistic one second ....the date of the release from this book is just few weeks before the tour de france ....and im sure the first goal of the book is to break the image of lance and prevent him from winning an another tour
maybe i shouldn't say that or so but doping among cycling always existed ....products changed yeah that's a fact but in a way why trying to condemn lance ? what did lance after his cancer is just giant and spectacular ....do people want an another marco pantani tragedy happens again? cycling is one of the hardest sport ...to climb and run for 3 weeks is more i think that the simple human being can do ....
emma o'reilly to me just betrayed lance by her confidences because all what lance said and did or asked her to do ...she just decided to tell all this to the journalists ....im not a crazy lance's fan but i have respect for him and for his work ...

well i hope for thoses who like cycling as i do will comments but it's always hard to comment a book u may have never heard about but here are the online source (french)

I dont understand how he could get away with it, if he's using steroids they'd catch him. The French would love nothing more than to catch him, but clearly they haven't in more than 4 years.

i agree with you that this is probably something that has just come out to ruin his image and to prevent him from winning the Tour. i dont know if theres any fact to the claims but im no expert on the subject. heres a link about him filing a law suit about the allegations.

The reason he wins races is his enhanced aerodynamics due to the surgery which took away a nut.

Think about it, the man was never able to win a big time race even though he was hyped back in the mid 1990s, then he gets ancer and loses a nut, comes back and is an unstoppable machine.

Food for thought (though it is probably no advantage at all to be a one-nut wonder when it comes to any athletic event).

Althought the one nut aerodynamic theory could prove to be valid, I am gonna go witht the fact that Lance has trained his respitorory and circulatory system to handle the rigorsextreme physical ability needed for races like the Tour De France.

I'm not sure about the one-nut theory, but many do believe the cancer did help him. After his treatment he lost quite a few pounds and lost quite a lot of body fat, which he has been able to keep off. As any cyclist can tell you, a climber's ultimate goal is as low as body fat as possible...and I can tell you Lance isn't a sprinter. I'd also say that about the time he was climbing like a rocket through the amateur rankings and finally the pro's in the 90's he got sick.

As far as the book...the French hate Lance and would love to see him falter. They test him every year for doping and such and they haven't found a thing. I think it's just another way they're hoping to throw Lance of his game, this time with psychological warfare. I for one hope that Lance destroys the field this year, although so far this season he's looked very beatable.

Leave these great athletes alone. Why do people have to make excuses. They say Sami Sosa's 500+ home runs were because of a cork bat...They say Barry Bond's 600+ home runs were because he might of used steroids, and now this?

Lance Armstrong is the most tested athlete in sports. He's had drug testers show up in the middle of the night at his house to test him and he has turned up clean everytime. Also that therapist, Emma whatever, even said that she didn't know what was in the needles. Therefor even if it was true (which I doubt it is), noone can even be sure if they were drugs or not and judging by the lack of positive tests, I highly doubt they were drugs. Anyways, Lance Armstrong is now in the lead so let's hope that he stays there.

I think the book is just speculation because Armstrong has never failed a single drug test in his life and we know the cycling body tests the riders all the time, unannounced. I've seen documentaries with Armstrong training, the guy is simply better than the rest. I mean Michael Moore can publish a book with tons of lies and theories and makes millions, yet most of his books are lies. I mean the lady can say what she wants, Armstrong has not failed a single drug test and that won't taint his Tour De France's victories (which he will win again this year). Same with Barry Bonds, yes they say he took drugs but the thing is, he has never failed a single drug test yet. I think reports of drugs are great for the news but hardly any have been proven true (well you wondered in the late 80's with Kersee and Flo-Jo who looked like men). Speaking of real cheats, Ben Johnson (Canada's most notorious cheater) has an interview with a news show and he claims our country did not protect him

I think his cancer focused him more than anything. After you have a near-death experience like that, your psyche has got to change. I think he stopped taking everything for granted and just started working that much harder.

I'm surprised the French haven't just framed him by now tbh, they hate him sooo much. However, as far as I'm concerned, Lance is the man and he doesn't cheat one bit.
