i once saw Oakenfold mix it up phat in Galt California a few years aho. he started out with some prog tribal house, and moved to his usual trance sound. it was a great set when i look back now after getting a better sound for Electronic. that night i saw him mix in from one record to TWO, mixing in the vocals of "flesh" over Ubik. i thought it was so sick.

I've seen the zabiela video from Monday bar and I've heard that Eddie Halliwell scratching clip.
Can anyone inform me on how these two create their scratching shit, preferably without needing an FX unit.

Hahaha if you think those are awesome dj techniques, watch some qbert vids, or some dreem team vids.

Basically check out any single turntablist and you'll see what a real pro can do on the decks.. Oakenfold and the others are nothing compared to some real turntablists..

Scratch turntablism is an art which I find magical.

For some years there have been many naysayers saying that scratching on top of four-on-the-floor dance music in house and related forms was not something that could be done, nor should be done.

Zabiela and the like point the way to a more more optimistic, openminded future, and I salute them.

Of note is the fact that Zabiela enjoys scratching on his CDJs, which are of course, not traditional turntables. But you can hear from the end sound how he attains his wizardry. His liner notes are extensive and I believe that his forthcoming ALiVE mix CD will provide more details as to how he does things.

i writed a song.

I have no idea how they did it, but in the Gabriel & Dresden Essential Mix there is this transition between two songs where they slowly brought Track B into Track A while gaining 1/4 beat each time or some shite like that. Its really hard to explain, and it was ages since i heard it, but i just remember that it sounded really cool.

The percussion almost sounded like the percussion from a breaks track.

It's always good watching Sasha. That guy is just so calm. He mixes without hardly moving or making any effort. Makes it look so easy.
