Buying A Deck

I'm thinking of buying this really expensive deck (Technics), so that I can finally play my favorite trance tunes legally instead of MP3s. (I got a virus recently doing so).

What do I have to think about before I make this decision?

you need to think about how you can get a better deck for less money

you mention a deck in sigular.. get 2, and a mixer, and you will have much more fun. you may also want to get some decent carts.. the ones that come with decks are ok to start with, but in my experience they dont last too long, and will sound shit very quickly.

Hmm.. I'm thinking of listening to my vinyls and recording some through my stereo mainly. It is possible to get 2 decks though if I decided to mix.

How long can vinyls last? Do they deteriorate?

If you take care of them they'll last longer than CDs, but treat em like shit and they'll be worthless quickly.

Vinyls can last a long time, it comes down to how safe you keep them and what carts you use with what weight, I got vinyls that are 8-9 years old and they still sound fine, you just gotta look after them, I surgest looking at some Shures, even though I use Concordes, if you want to use a cart with really low weight on it, Shures seem to be the best.

Thats true, but you can buy some second hand Techs and if you don't want it after afew months, you can sell it for the same price.

That's where I'm in a dilemma.. I really want to get a tight new technics deck.. but I might as well save my money for other things.
