well the mixer arrived today and was over the moon took it out the box etc and its looks smart and very well built

iv got a feeling im gonna make myself sound stupid now but i went to have a mix on it and had everything working sound etc.

ok i know it has a split cue feature ....i know with the split cue on you have channel 1 in one cup and channel 2 in the other

with split cue off (the way i prefer to mix) when i have the cue switchs on both channels i hear both tunes in one ear cup of the headphones. however i can hardly hear the tune i want to mix in as the one playin out is more dominant. i like to mix this way generally and on previous mixer been a blend switch to justify this problem. howerver to my knowledge it looks like there is no blend switch whilst cueing on this mixer. so you cant make the tune you want to mix in more dominantovert the outplaying tune in the headphones. if i just have the cue switch on for the channel i want to mix in all i hear in the one cup is this tune only

am i being stupid and cant find it..am i doing anyhting wrong or is this what the mixer is like. and how do you guys deal with it.

hope that makes sense ...i dont want to get rid of the mixer but heard nothing but great things about it but i like a blend feature just after some advice and i dont knoew wheter to return it or not.

Thats just how it is. There reason the outgoing tune is dominant is because the EQ's of it are probably still at full, while the incoming track's EQ's are down. When you cue in the 275 the volume is at full and does not change, but the EQ adjustments do.

I never found it that terribly annoying. If you have good headphones you should be able to hear the tracks well enough anyways, and it it's THAT terrible just practice one ear monitoring as you're doing transitions. You will need this skill anyways, as not all mixers you will encounter @ parties will let you mix in both headphones.

i thought that maye have been the case. i have got decent headphones The Technics RP DJ1210 Headphones.

i dont find it terribly annoying its just im use to djing this way on my old setup. like you said i can still hear the tracks its just a tiny bit harder to here the tune im cueing.

at the end of the day like you said its best to be able to mix in a different ways so it just seemjs like its all about me just getitng use to my new mixer and improving my overall skills for any unlikely situations

But other than that yes, its a fact that once you kill say the bass son one channel, in blend mode it is harder than a split cue to seperate until you are used to that method.

I personally cannot stand both channels in both cups- my least favourite.
I can do it perfectly well- but given the choice i wont.

you need to match your gains... and then the incoming track will sound fine in your headphones...

iv tired that as well and still find it hard

What I do is just use the Gains / Trims to turn up the track I want louder in the headphones. Just don't forget to turn it back down again before bring the track in or you'll be fucked.

i have a question.. can you hear the gains in headphone cue on the 275?

yes you can, the gain switch is the actual volume of the track, while the channel fader is a percentage of that gain, so you should always hear the effects of the gain switch in pretty much any mixer.

yeah just wack up the gain on the track, then when its beatmatched turn the gain down to where it needs to be then switch it to split cue while you do the mix. or learn to beatmatch with just one ear in the phones. its always a safe bet to be able to do it like this, you never know what kind of setup you will have plus its actually a lot better for getting results (as opposed to mixed cueing) as you can pick out the other track much easier and quicker.
