Can I ask you all that what do you actually do a remix on other tune?
Remix the entire melody? Change the beat? Bassline? Arrangement or???
What do you at least remain from the original tune? THe melody but different sound? BPM?
I mean i know there are alot of ways of doing a remix. But would like to know whats the fav style you guys like to remain the tune and kick off some stuff away and redo that particular part??
I like to keep the original melody intact, and if there are things that I want to change in the melody to make it sound better to me, then I change it as I see fit.
remixing a track is about taking some1 else's work into your own style of production and aiming to make it better (usually)
Another thing I find I change alot in remixing, is percussion elements and sound effect samples.
i never take sounds from the original.. a midi file is the only thing i need, and then i do my own thing with it. i usually give the melody a little twist as well.. in the end, my remixes are completely different from the original, hehe.. but that's what i think a remix should be.

i turn what i can remix into uk hard trance. my remix, my rules
i keep the melody the same, unless i can think up a nicer version of it.
use all my instruments, never any samples from the actual tune itself etc.

there should no rules just take a bit of the original track, be it melody, samples, whatever, and make your own track around those bits. don't be afraid to tweaking them, like changing some notes of the main melody or whatever, those uplifting remixes where they keep the main melody and just change one or two counter-melodies, percs and FX are usually so boring

remixing is basically to re-make a track, the way u want to make it..
basically you can do whatever the hell you want but it is an unwritten rule that you should keep the basic idea of the track inract..but I don't like to do that..do you? this also depends on teh type of tune your remixing... I mean if its some purly commercial tune like Britteny Spears or something, then yes keep soem of the original work but really its up to you.
