like the intro, I like the tune, its a big improvment on the first one you did,. it has much more weight and feels alot more filled out. The clap has improved too, but i still feel there is something wrong with clap -cant put me finger on it - im not an expert.
I like the melody on this, but you've added another synth sound that I think is ruining the main arpeggio, it was better before without, keep that arp as the main lead noise.
hope this helps.
good one |
Yeah, I think getting the clap just right is really hard...I think in time I will learn to EQ it better. As far as that other synth sound, I added it cause I thought it would bring more meaning into that arpeggio, I wanted to introduce the 'main melody' before it actually played...hmm, I'll think about removing possibly...thanks for the input though....

hey marcus
dont worry ur not bothering me feel free to leave me a pm anytime...
about the track... u seem to know what ur doing with the melody
i dunno what quality u have the sample up there as, im geussing its 96 kbps?
the main melody synth needs a little EQ'ing because it sounds a little too computery right hehe, kick neeeds stronger, bass needs louder, percs is great, when everything hits, i hear so many things and a huge off note melody... check into that...
so its just mastering u gotta work on and that part with the offnotes where it all hits
now, about the girl in ur pic with the headphones!! DAMN nice

Thanks Sunquest...I've been dabling with producing for sometime but never made a track like this one, I've been messing around with a Roland JX-305, but after working with Reason, there is no going back...
- yeah the Main Melody needs work, I guess I was trying to go for something 'normal' sounding but ended up 8-bit sounding...will try to modify it
- [baseline], really hard to get down right, not sure what kind of effects to throw in to the bassline...will keep researching on TA for more help
- [Kick], not sure yet what a good kick from a bad kick sounds like...eventually i will though
- [offnote] I guess I've heard this track so many damn times that I can't pinpoint it, but that's ok, I will concentrate on mastering at this point
- [photo of girl] hehe this one's funny, I was looking at some stock photography and happened to come across this photo that had no watermark on it...hehe
I will probably make some more changes one more time to the track, then move on...
Really appreciate your feedback Sunquest...thanks

Hey mate, this is a great song! Nicely done but IMO, i dun like such kinda bassline. No idea why. I sick of such Trance sound over and over again. But then, I really love the melody you did which made me had a second thought of the track. Nice arrangement. It be good if theres short vox on it.
I prefer you to change ur kick and clap which sound alittle weak. Maybe its due to the birate. (No idea)
Cheers!
EDIT: I need to say that the girl look GREAT! |
Hey Josh, thanks man. Yeah since this was my first production, I wanted to just throw in a simple baseline. The next track will most likely have a different pattern.
About that melody, I thought of getting rid of it, but now, im not sure...i'll have to experiment...
yes, give me a girl with beautiful vocals and I can die in peace! hehe...
Will up the power on kick and clap...Thanks again
isn't it nice to just look at that girl?? hehe

Great first production in reason! I really like the first half of the track, it flows really nicely, and remains focussed and tight. After the breakdown with all the nice panning and awesome layering, I think it loses a bit of focus.
One specific point, when the strings, arp bass and clap are going towards the start of the breakdown, theres a naked bass drum hit. It's in exactly the right spot, and could be awesome with a huge reverb tail or bass dive or both. |
Thanks Pho mo...
Yes the break needs an uplift definitly...i'm working on that right now...
About that naked bass drum, I'm not exactly sure how to get that sound, that deep-bass-long lasting-explosion type sound, it sounds like your saying add reverb to the kick...i'll play around with that.
Sweet, thanks
