Do you use Speakers & Amp or just powered speakers for DJing.
Hey guys,
I have almost completed my DJ setup, but the only thing left for me to get is speakers and/or an amp.
I was just wondering what you use for DJing at home. Perhaps you guys have some recommendations for a n00b who is only looking to spend a couple of hundred bucks too.
Cheers.

Got speakers and an Amp, got them on ebay (brand new and really cheap). Got 150W speakers and 250W speakers, using the smaller ones as monitors.
It's the Amp that costs the most but I am using a friends one at the moment
The speakers were brand new from a company called audioland

I'm talking DJ montior speakers here (Also suitable for small events)
Get the best speakers and go for the FBT MaxX4a they are active powered boxes and have an extremely high quality sound and are very durable. Their the best in the Industry. They are used in the main DJ booth at A Night Of Trance, ULTRA e.t.c.
Other popular speakers are the JBL EON G2 15s. These were used last Saturday night at Nu NRG. I found personally found their sound is not as good as the FBT's for Trance. The FBTs have a very strong midrange.
For information on FBT check out www.tag.com.au they are the suppliers

^^^^^
Obviously there are much better speakers than what I suggested, I was just informing AJ of a cheaper option.
Man if I could afford it I would get something similar to that kind of set up

If you want a cheap option cruise around on council pickup day and you're bound to get something that makes 'noise'.

ive got a pair of Behringer (Truth) series speakers.
I had a pretty decent amp, so i decided to get the PASSIVE speakers.. you can get the ACTIVE speakers (inbuilt amp) for a pretty decent price.
They're used as monitors, I've got twin boxes (import Linear Design) with 4 15" subs pumping the bass
Check out CC's light and sound in South Melbourne, they have an awesome range dude. Their cool when it comes to bargaining so make sure u get the best price.
If you decide to go there, check out the back of the store, they have ex-demo quality club speakers for sale at usually more than half price.
Eg. they have a pair of JBL Eon G2's for around $1300 for the pair (sound quality is immac, just has some cosmetic scratches from years of loyal service)

I can do better than that, I am using a massive stereo (Sanyo) from the 60s or 70s. It is a wicked stereo though, huge sound!!!!!!!
4 channel, so I have the rears set up as monitors and the fronts (larger ones) as main speakers pointing past my legs, extra sound/bass.
Go to Cashies or another similar store, see what you can pick up.

RCA inputs into a stereo..
it really sucks to try and use it for mixing and stuff
because u have nothing to monitor on, except what comes
thru your headphones.
wish i could afford a proper setup.. but it'll make me
better dj in the longterm
