I would probably suggest going to the label websites as most will have either normal postage details or ways to send tracks to them...

I know when I was sending out the Kuffdam & Plant tracks to various people, some would accept tracks with a link in an email but some prefer cd due to time issues.

One thing I would say is that its handy to have several tracks ready at one time as many labels will want to hear more material from you if they like the first one you send. This means you can get back in touch right away rather than having to go away and try to make some new in a hurry.

Another tip would be to try and get in touch with DJ's first. If you can get some support for your track with actual plays you will then find it far easier to approach a label with details of plays.

very very true..

remember, as far as sending demo cd's in is concerned, its all about presentation. if it looks shit it wont even go in the cd player.

The thing I found with the labels was that they tend to listen to it along with hundreds of other tracks and it can be hard for the person to really see the potential of a track..... after hours of listening your head just gets cloudy with the same sounds..... but getting a DJ to play it out can give a view to reaction to the track, regular support and if you manage some radio support then your onto a winner..

A Tu-Face mentions... when you send it, make the package look as good as you can get it..... give a bio sheet with it and keep it simple... too much info and they won't read it, not enough and it looks like you haven't done anything....

The worry factor for any producer is that you give the track out and it leaks onto the web before you can get it signed etc.... but you just have to live with that. Its gonna happen no matter what so with the first few tracks you just need to grin and bare it. The plus side is people will hear it and if it gets played then you can start to reduce the numbers of the forthcoming tracks that are given out when you get a deal.

Oh yeah and I meant to say....

Try and get the address for the main DJ's you think would play it... someone from TA managed to get me about 10 main home addresses and P.O box numbers for the likes of Armin, Tiesto and PVD back when we strated mailing stuff.... it turned out to be a major thing to have and within days of sending our first release out PVD was playing it on a few mixes..... This help out like you wouldn't believe.... I still owe that person big time for the help we got.....

Maybe this is another approach for you to think about...
