Anti-Skating

Hey,
I have a pair of 1200's with some stanton 500-II's in them, i was wondering what i should set the anti-skating to, at the moment both dex are set at 0. And can some one tell me what the anti-skating does, i know it stops it or reduces the risk of jumping, but how does it do it? and what does it actually do? anyways thanx to anyone who tells me...

It's a good idea to have your anti-skate set up properly.

Here's the info for setting it up from one of my previous posts:

*snip*
As a rule of thumb I would say to set the antiskate to be anywhere from .5 to 1 times the setting on the tonearm. I set mine to 1.8 for my tonearm weight of 2.5. You should never set the antiskate to be higher than the tonearm weight.

If you are a scratch DJ it is a little different, and you probably want to leave the antiskate at zero.
*snip*

Now what anti-skate does, is it applies an outwards force on the tonearm. This counteracts the inwards force created by dragging a record against the needle.
