What do I need to record my mixes?

So now I've been spinning for a while and I've started to do some good mixes I've thought to record my sets from my mixer to my PC.
But I don't know exactly what I need. I know it's necessary an audio target like the Audiophile USB (http://www.microfusa.com/tienda/fic...cat=&nomsubcat=) but then what is the program required?

thx in advance!

you will need:

any soundcard with line in (your laptop may already have this)
a wave editor/recorder such as cool edit (or audition as its now called)/soundforge
a wire going from 2 x phono RCA > 1 x stereo minijack.

Any sound editing program will record audio. It's just a matter of which one you happen to prefer.

Even Windows' sound recorder can do that

Anyone know how to record to a tape player or something? (like a walkman, not a stereo [don't have one]).

Well it works just like any recording device. You just need to make sure it has a line in port and plug your mixer output to there.

that depends on the tape player. usually, ones with line in are just normal RCA wires. some may use minijack. looka t your tapoe player, we arn't psychic

Ya, I was just wondering if I needed a special kind or something, 'cause I actually don't even have a tape player, was gonna buy one. But in all honesty I'll probably just end up buying a new sound card so I can record to PC.

as long as you have a sound card with an input you can record with it. All you would have to do is find the adapter that works. I have an audigy soundblaster and I use a RCA to mini-jack converter. I record with the audigy software. The only problem is some minor additional noise and signal loss through the adapter, but it is fairly negligible. When you record, make sure your main output isn't too high or it will cause clipping. Good luck.

on my desktop recording i got a oem audigy2 i picked up from work for $50, and it's sound quality is good enough for cds, i get a noise floor level of ~92db! As for my notebook, im using a abused SB Extigy, and i get a noise level of around ~85db, still not bad. So if you got a pc, try it's soundcard first and hear how it sounds, that'll save you $$$, and thats always nice!

As for recording software, i use soundforge 5.0 but as of late i've been using audacity, and considering it's price (free) you can't do any better. Gotta love open-source software! There's versions for mac/win/linux, so check it out.
