im sorry i come with my bad news but last night while i was DJ'ing with my stanton rm-100 mixer 3 hours into the set the mixer just shut-off! i can no longer turn the mixer 'on'. what happened? did it overheat (can that happen)? blow a fuse (does it even exsist)? i've only had this mixer for 5 months and its in very good condition so im very puzzled and im crying cause now i dont have a working mixer. please help me you guys

There might be a fuse(in which case it would probly be an internal fuse, and opening it would void a waranty, or you might have friend your outs..soo I dunno..does anything in the mixer work? like headphone jack? or does it not work at all?

well i sent an e-mail to the stanton people, but i didnt find a phone number to call on their contact page.

the mixer just doesnt turn 'on'. as in i dont think any power is goign into it. the power cord has on of those black boxes if you know what i mean, is there a fuse in that? if not i dont want to open the mixer itself just yet. if what you meant by this, "or you might have friend your outs", is that i fried my outs i doubt it cause then the mixer should still be able to get power (i should see lights on it) maybe im wrong.

Time to start thinking of getting a better mixer.. boy I'd never take anything that shuts off on me. I suggest a vestax 170a mixer or 275v mixer. Or if your in for the money.. like the really good ones.. Get the Beringer. That is the crazy shit. That blows away all other mixers especially the Pioneer.

Could be just the fuse in the wall plug. Try changing that. If the mixer has an external power supply (i.e. the wall plug is a big, transformer type thing) then it could be that that has broken.

If your mixer uses an external power supply, then it might have just burned up. Smell the power supply box to see if you can smell a burnt smell. If so then all you need to do is replace the power supply. Go to the nearest radio shack or the like and get a new one. Make sure it operates at the right voltage for your mixer.
Here---->AC15V @ 500mA OR AC12V @ 700mA<-----I looked it up for you.

If you do not smell a burnt smell with the power supply then the problem is most likey just a fuse. Open up the mixer and look for the fuse. It should be somewhere near where the power cord goes into the mixer. Pull the old fuse out. if the little wire in the fuse is broken then replace the fuse. Again, make sure you get the right Amp fuse.

I just finished looking up the manual for your mixer, and i found that your mixer has an external fuse cover. There is no need to open up the mixer to get to the fuse. On the back of the mixer there should be a place where a flathead screwdriver fits to remove the fuse cover. Also, your mixer uses a 500mA fuse.

ok guys its still not coming back to life...
when i smelled the transfer/adapter box it smelled normal...
as for finding the fuse, I CANT FIND IT! i opened the top of the mixer and couldnt find it there either. there is no place on the back of the mixer that will fit a flat head. i got an email back from stanton and it gave me a number to call but when i tried they werent there and it was just an aswering machine , i will try agian tomorrow. in the meantime what do i do?

hmm..strange thing is that the manual says it should be a fuse problem, but when looking @ the diagram, there is no fuse case..so its probly an internal fuse....I dont know if you wanna try to fix it yourself or not.

You better just send it to Stanton and they'll fix it for you or give you a new one... call them as much as needed!

ok well today i actually talked to the "stanton" and turns out that the mixer doesnt even have a fuse, they said the manual was wrong. this means its either the power supply (adaptor box thingy) that failed (they said it doesnt nessicarly have to smell bad) or a problem with the mixer itself. they were very friendly and understanding but i wont get any compensation, however since i sent it out today on 3 day delivery they said they will send it back to me fixed (on their expense of course) before Nov. 10th which is when i start my first residency... that story is in the other thread... ill keep you informed about the mixer, then you guys can make up your mind about ever buying one... so far i give them a B+ on service as for the products if the mixer turns out fine just the power supply failed than i still think its an above average mixer.
